Great leaders build trust and credibility. They allow people to grow and they do not judge them. Effective leadership is an inside-outside job. It starts with the person (the leader). The biggest issue is the human ego which keeps you from affecting self. Your inner values as a leader will drive your behaviors and actions. Another barrier is self-doubt.

The book, good to great’s concept is on humility. It’s all about the people you are serving and not you. It’s the same approach for coaching, which is first shift your mindset from self into service – that is getting you out!

The A.B.C.D of trust in leadership is;

A – Ability – Do people trust your abilities and skills

B – Believable – Are you believable?

C – Connectedness – Do people feel connected to you?

D – Dependable – Are you dependable?

Leaders develop a relationship with them. The relationship is like money in the bank. If you give people negative feedback, you are reducing from your relationship money bank, that is a debit in your relationship account.

To be an effective leader, you need to be authentic. Authentic leaders are real with who they are. Help people understand themselves and help them to be authentic about themselves. Leaders help people bring out their strengths. Leaders should work with teams, not teams work for them. Leaders help their team to WIN. Servant leaders build trust. Leaders have good listening skills, it’s not about them but listening to people to find out their needs. Leaders ask good questions rather than tell them. Leaders walk the talk and live the value!!

Feedback is breakfast for champions. Leaders don’t get defensive; they say tell me more because they want to grow. They have a growth mindset.
